Shepton Mallet Leisure Centre is pleased to offer an accredited exercise referral scheme for the local community.  We offer varied and appropriate exercise opportunities for participants.

Exercise referral would be ideal if you have medical conditions including: cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, COPD, cancer, stroke recovery, muscular-skeletal conditions including osteoarthritis and mental health.

You may be referred onto the scheme by a variety of health professionals: GPs, physiotherapists, practice nurses, dieticians, psychologists, and NHS coaches.

You may also self-refer for low-risk conditions.

Your referring health professional will present you with your referral form for you to bring to SMLC.

On arrival at SMLC you will be given information about the scheme.  Your details will be forwarded to Kate, our Exercise Referral Co-Ordinator who will contact you to arrange an appointment for your initial assessment and gym induction.

Following this Kate will set your personal gym programme, which will be suitable for your health condition.

Now you are ready to attend any of the sessions included on the scheme!

Throughout your gym sessions, Kate will monitor you and amend your programme to afford fitness improvements.
